Kody Kamm Wins Pro Lite Sat, Pro Lite Championship, and Pro Debut Sunday at Lake Geneva!

April 17th, 2012 by

Shakopee, Minnesota (March 21, 2012)-Hentges Racing ended the 2011-2012 ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross Series in a big way this past weekend with history in the making. The riders and team dominated races, point standings and said good-bye to long time Pro and three time champion TJ Gulla.

For the first time since sweeping both Pro championships in 2009, the team has won a championship. Kody Kamm cleaned house on the Pro Lite competition this year. He only missed the box a couple times. Seasoned Pro, Brett Bender finished 9th in the Pro Open championship. Hentges Racing’s own TJ Gulla retired this weekend riding through injuries. He won the Pro LCQ Sunday putting him into a tough Pro final where he rode his last Snocross race as a Pro.

The temperatures were in the 80s all weekend at the Nielsen Enterprises Grand Finale in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It was amazing that the ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross Series was able to put on a snowmobile race of this caliber. Needless to say, it was far from a typical weekend of snowmobile racing and everyone enjoyed the weather.

Big things are in the making for the kid that doesn’t seem to slow down. Kamm came into the weekend simply hoping there was a track to ride on and it was an awesome track. On Saturday Kamm won both the qualifying heats and the final. “I see there is nobody there and I just keep going fast,” said Kamm about the competition and his race strategy. His Pro debut on Sunday was a little tougher. “Every lap I was waiting and waiting for the checkered flag. It was definitely a long race” said Kamm about his lead and win in the Pro final. The Hentges Racing team is proud to have him.

Brett Bender had a rough weekend. Saturday he ran into trouble with the competition during qualifying when Malinowski landed on the back of his sled, followed by a few other big off’s. Then the pain continued to follow on Sunday when Bender crashed out in finals. “In the finals I got piled in and rolled over,” said Bender. The track was rough, the roost was brutal and the competition was fighting for everything and anything. It was a disappointing way for him to end the season, but he “is ready for next year”. TJ Gulla had a long and successful, 15 year career with most of those years a part of Hentges Racing. It was a long time-coming decision to finally retire. “The most exciting part of this weekend was to see Kody win the final,” said Gulla.

Next season is going to be an exciting one! We will keep you all posted on what is going on this summer with the team, upcoming news and information about next season on the team Facebook page. We look forward to our fans interacting with us all year. Just because the snow isn’t falling doesn’t mean you can’t continue to follow us!

Teamwork Puts Hentges Racing on the ERX Podium!

April 17th, 2012 by

Shakopee, Minnesota (March 12, 2012)-Hentges Racing continues with the common theme of success. The team has proven it again this past weekend at the ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross Series Elk River Extreme Motor Park (ERX) National in Elk River, Minnesota. A record number of fans surrounded every side of the venue to watch the Snocross action.

The convenient Twin Cities location and perfect Snocross racing weather brought in hundreds of race fans and cleared initial expectations for the event turn-out. Beautiful weather lasted all weekend with temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

ERX could very well be the track of the year. It was easy to see from every side, technical yet the riders were able to catch big air and battle constantly. Average lap times were around 50 seconds, longer lap times than the previous national racetrack.

Current Pro Lite point leader, Kody Kamm experienced uncommon mistakes Friday. Known to be unbeatable, Kamm fired back and put a punishment on the rest of the competition taking every win and the top spot on the podium Saturday night.

“I just kept making mistakes,” said Kamm after his performance on Friday. With a bad night over and another chance, Kamm said he would stick with what he knows best and that is winning. Nothing will slow this kid down.

TJ Gulla sat out this weekend with injuries in preparation for his final career race. Gulla plans to give it his all and race one last time at the Grand Finale in Lake Geneva this coming weekend.

It has been a long time in the waiting for Polaris Pro, Brett Bender to finally find his place on the podium. Perseverance paid off with his third place finish. “I led the first couple laps and was just trying to get my doubles down good,” said Bender about his performance. With Kamm failing to finish on the box, teammate Bender stepped up to deliver for the sponsors. Strong emotions came from the men behind the scenes of this race team and teammates’ proving that teamwork never fails.

Bender was ready to do it again on Saturday but it did not go as planned. A few seconds after he pulled the holeshot he was hit from behind and pushed off the track. He had strong qualifying finishes all day with a 3rd and a 2nd and once again proved that he can run in the front. Regarding a disappointing start to the end of the weekend, he said “After that I just set my head down and went forward”.

Hot off his first podium of the season and still in the top 10 for year-end points, Bender is focused on finding another one before the season is over.

“I am pumped on the next race. It’s always fun,” said Bender looking forward to the end of the season.

SUCCESS FOR HENTGES RACING AT FARGO NATIONAL

April 17th, 2012 by

Shakopee, Minnesota (March 5, 2012)-Hentges Racing had another successful weekend at the ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross Series Fargo Tractor National. The double header was held March 2-3rd at the Buffalo River Race Park near Fargo, North Dakota.

Saturday night the stands were filled with dedicated, die-hard snowmobile enthusiasts who were used to the cold weather Fargo is known for. The track this weekend was one of rider favorites this season. It was technical, long and lap times were over 40 seconds.

Nothing seems to slow down Hentges Racing champion Kody Kamm who took the top spot on the podium once again both days in Pro Lite. Kamm continues to lead the point championship.

“I didn’t lap anyone this time,” said Kamm after his win on Saturday. He sticks with the strategy he knows best of “trying to get the holeshot and then finding smooth lines”. Kamm shows incredible talent and the competition has noticed. He seems to be unbeatable.

The competition got the best of injured Pro rider TJ Gulla in the second round on Saturday. He has been struggling with sore ribs for much of this season and frustrated with not being able to do the things he wants to do out there.

“It is just extremely frustrating when you put all this work in and then somebody else takes it away from you,” said Gulla.

Gulla had great starts all weekend. He plans to continue racing the remaining of the season. He announced his retirement earlier this season and his not ready to end it sooner than planned.

Brett Bender and the black mod caught attention this weekend with successful in qualifying with two 2nd place finishes on Saturday. He led races all weekend and proved to be top competition coming into the finals. Bender took a 7th in finals on Friday and a 9th on Saturday. He moved up to 9th position in the National points.
